Social Justice
Social Justice is our imperative. As Unitarian Universalists we are called to come together in love and power to build a more just world. Living our values is the most fundamental way we grow as communities and as individuals. "It is the church that assures us that we are not struggling for justice on our own, but as members of a larger community. The religious community is essential, for alone our vision is too narrow to see all that must be seen and our strength too limited to do all that must be done. Together, our vision widens and our strength is renewed." --Mark Morrison-Reed, Singing the Living Tradition #580 |
“[Eileen] is a person who puts her full self into her faith. She is spiritually deep and passionate about justice and, in particular, the work of anti-racism and multi-cultural competency. She is solid, sane, smart, and well suited to this work.” -Rev. Hilary Krivchenia, Ministerial Internship Supervisor |
I was invited to participate in a Juneteenth celebration at the Baha'i Temple in Wilmette in 2012 by one of my Interfaith Dialogue Committee partners. I wrote the poem above to share at that event. |
