I served on the Religious Education Board at the Unitarian Church of Evanston from 2004-2007, and as the chair in the 2005/2006 church year.
In building community and creating community volunteer opportunities, I engage people of all ages to grow and learn together. I've found the best way to get young people to attend an event is to ask them to help plan it! We celebrated 30 Days of Love - the Standing on the Side of Love campaign of action between MLK Day and Valentine's Day - with an all ages celebration. I Initiated and supervised a project to build a Peace Dove for our International Day of Peace celebration; co-created a Saturday Morning Baking program with Good News Partners, a local housing cooperative organization; and worked with an interfaith organization to plan a weekend of volunteer opportunities for 100's of individuals including children. I conduct Introduction to Unitarian Universalism and Orientation toward Membership classes quarterly and have curated a curriculum of member belonging, where new members explore the principles and sources of our faith and their own spiritual journeys. I've also developed and conducted leadership development workshops and training addressing communication, long range planning, mentoring, and running effective meetings. |
